When I think about this blog lately, I think of the words of one of my all time favorite song.
Hello, hello, hello... is anybody out there?
I have had a lot to say and share lately, but sitting down at the computer and creating just hasn't been an option recently.
Here is what is going on in my life right now...
We had a sudden change in our daily routine that now requires us to do all those normal parent things like get the boys up, fed, to school, home again, cleaned, fed again, and such. Working 50 hours a week and managing two boys at a moments notice has been quite an adjustment.
I'll give you an idea of how I'm doing...
Last week, I didn't manage to get the boys a bath. I had to wash their feet in the morning before sending them to school. God forbid they went to school with their feet screaming, my mom hasn't given us a bath... in days.
Their room has piles of clothes everywhere waiting to be sorted and put away. Yes, at least, they are clean... but I can't even take credit for that since Dave's mom was visiting and did our laundry.
So that gives you an idea at my ability to be a women who does it all.
Nope, I'm more like Kate, the woman in the book "I don't know how she does it" by Allison Pearson. If you're a working mom, I recommend you read this book - at least the first few chapters. (That's all I think I've managed to get through - based on time, not interest.) Anyway, you won't ever feel uncapable or guilty again.
Because Kate can't do it either.
To my defense... not that I really need one...I've also been fighting a severe sinus infection and now that the antibiotics are done, I'm still fight some kind of allergy-bronchitis thing. We were camping last weekend and are going again this next weekend, so catch up time is limited. We had an au pair agency house check one evening and an end-of-the-season soccer pizza party another. And trying to house train a tiny, hard-to-keep-track-of puppy.
And of course, Tuesday and Wednesday nights are shot because I have to watch American Idol.
Priorities.
So there you have it. While there has been some really good things as a result of our making-in-on-our-own experience so far, it has proven, once and for all, I can't do it all.
And this is just week one... of six!

About the photo... It was a gorgeous evening - the moon was bright. I took the photo up in Buena Vista last weekend. The cool black and white film effect was achieved using Nik Software's Silver Efex Pro. Love it!
