Buena Vista, CO - May 8-9, 2009.
After four months of training, Dave and his brother, Nate, competed in an 12-hour Extreme Adventure Race. The race wasn't easy. They ran up a mountain and back, they kayaked down a class 3 river, they mountain-biked on remote mountain trails, they completed an orienteering course in three hours, traversed a canyon on a rope, and then mountain biked down to the finish line.
Lois, Topper, I, and the kids were their support crew. We hauled gear, encouraged our athletes, got a little lost on one trek, watched kids and dog, ate lunch, and waited... and waited... and waited some more.
The guys finished in 10 hours - 4th in their division. It was quite an accomplishment!
